I need to know if the framerail fuel pump is supposed to come on with every turn of the key. Sometimes I will turn the key a couple times, and not hear it, and my engine will crank but will NOT run until that little sumbitch finally buzzes and shoots enough fuel into the lines to get the engine running.
This has been a problem that comes and goes since I've had the truck, about year and a half. Sometimes it will disappear for a month, and the pump will always come on right away and my truck will always fire right up. But sometimes I have to turn the key a bunch of times before the pump will come on.
Another problem associated with this....sometimes the pump will buzz and the engine will fire like it got its needed shot of fuel, then immediately stall out. I will sometimes have to repeat this process several times before the engine will fire up and stay running. This also comes and goes.
I guess I've ignored/worked around this issue the whole time because otherwise my truck has been very reliable, and always pulls smooth and runs great. But it's finally starting to really piss me off. I had to fight with it for about 15 minutes the other night in a parking lot, before it finally started up and ran. I don't know if this is an issue with the framerail pump, the main pump, fuel pump relay, fuel inertia switch, or a combination of things. Any insight would be great, thanks in advance.
