I got her back in June and have been lurking. She's bone stock right now but I already have a list of mods and upgrades I want to do. I want her to be a daily driver, weekend off road and camping truck. Definitely better tires (I kind of like the wheels). I can't lift her because the wife would have trouble getting in and out (bad hip). I'm having trouble deciding whether to change the bumper or just get a brush guard.

Looks great! Welcome to TRS.

Nice truck... not that I'm partial or anything.

So in 08 they lowered the 4x4 trucks by a couple inches. Front is from a re-indexed torsion bar key... rear they removed the lift block under the leaf spring. About 2 inches lower then their previous years. You might have trouble with a taller tire. Although I'm not sure honestly.

Bumpers are cool... spendy but cool... and functional. I put bumpers on my Sport 4x4... I think they make the truck.

Looking forward to what you end up doing.

Would love to see your bumper setup. I wasn't necessarily looking for a taller tire just one that's not all season "Car" tires like the ones one there now, maybe an all-terrain. I realize I'll get more noise but that's what stereos are for. LOL.

I just put new leaf springs... one inch lift shackles on the rear... I also put lift keys in the front.

I would just put a flip up license plate holder on it.

I might be partial on my bumper choice too. I can say AOR builds some nice stuff... made in America. Stand behind what they do. When looking for bumpers for my Bronco II... I didn't need to look anywhere else. They didn't offer a rear bumper for it... so I sent them a drawing for what I wanted for bumper brackets... asked if they could put those on a bumper a wanted. They did it. My Bronco II is on their website for the rear elite bumper.

Thanks, You've swayed my decision. Made in America is always a good choice. Thanks for your input.

You'll be happy...

I'm a cap guy... I like to keep things dry and somewhat secure. I also sleep under it.

So... I've never looked. Maybe ask out in the forum... others might have things to share.

The only other thing with your truck you should know... maybe you already do.

The 4.0L SOHC is the most powerful engine to be put in one of these truck from the factory. I love mine... does all I ask it to do. But they got a bad wrap early for a funky cam timing chain system that was released with less the stellar components. Yours should have all the upgraded components. So no worries there... but... maintenance is gonna be key. Keep up on your oil changes... and when you're getting to 100k miles... change the hydraulic chain tensioners. It should go 300k if ya take care of it.

I did know about the timing chain problem. But like you said, I should be okay there. I'm a stickler for maintenance...good to know about that hydraulic chain tensioners. I've never been a cap guy but yours looks great I might change my mind. But I want to get a truck bed tent.

I chose a tent big enough to park my truck in... lmao
