How is it better? 4th of July for me means going to the lake for a car show then getting to see lots of girls in bikinis on the beach and staying until after dark to see the fire works. plus grillin and drinking on the beach.
Canada Day marks the creation of the Dominion of Canada in 1867, the beginning of a united country. From its earliest settlements by Native Americans, through French and English settlements and wars, Canada was a divided land. Some territories had banded together before 1867, but Confederation was the first large step toward total unity, from sea to sea. Canada is today a very large country, with a very large population and a very large economy.
On June 20, 1868, a proclamation signed by the Governor General, Lord Monck, called upon all Her Majesty's loving subjects throughout Canada to join in the celebration of the anniversary of the formation of the union of the British North America provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on July 1st. The July 1 holiday was established by statute in 1879, under the name Dominion Day. There is no record of organized ceremonies after this first anniversary, except for the 50th anniversary of Confederation in 1917, at which time the new Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings, under construction, was dedicated as a memorial to the Fathers of Confederation and to the valour of Canadians fighting in the First World War in Europe.
'Cause it's in Canada !![]()
You must be from the younger generation, that think it's a day off for party and drinking? If that's what the 4th of july means to you, then you are a lost hope.
A lost hope? A day on a lake, BBQ, and good company makes him a lost hope? The 4th of July was created to celebrate our nations independence, just because someone grills up some burgers and enjoys some beer doesn't make them a lost hope.
happy canada day ya bunch of crazy wheeling canucks, drink a case of beer, chill with friends and family and celebrate what an awesome country we have!
CHEERS EVERYBODY!!!!!!!
