Halloween Run 2009

Are you two brothers?

Unfortunately I would like to make the trip but can't. I was going to the Cliffs with a bunch of buddies on the first but we moved that to the 15th of November if any of you might want to hit the Cliffs for a day. Maybe the mudslides will calm down and I might actually have my truck done for the trails.

The bII won't be there, I'm putting her to sleep. But I will be there 100% with the sportsman. I'm up for camping friday-sunday. What time are you rolling out on friday Bray?

:headbang:

Burn, wanna split camping costs?

Brett - I'm gonna go ahead and say negative on the 15th. I need to buy a bender and build bumpers/rework my spring buckets/get longer springs/etc. I need this to be my last trip of the year or I'll never get anything done haha.

Tony - stock or not, you'll have a good time I'm sure.

Wirsch - Plan to roll out ~ 1:30 which would put me at 74 right around 2:45.

As for camping, I've got a site that can house 4 tents. I've got one, do the math haha.

I'm sleeping in the truck so I won't need a tent lol.I'll still be happy to compensate you for my share of the cost. Guessing I need to go buy a tow line to keep incase.I'll probably leave St.Louis around 12 or so.

Yeah, a tow strap isn't a bad idea. I've got one on me at all times, and hopefully the rest of the guys we wheel with will have theirs as well.

Mud shouldn't be too much of an issue, unless you want to find it. I was there one time and a stock wrangler followed us though the whole orange trail. I think there'll be plenty to keep you occupied in a stock truck.

I just updated to beefer tires and a good TB crank so I'm looking forward to some fun. What camp site will you guys be at so I know were to look?

Oh yeah, you need a flag for the park too. I've got a spare you can use, but you need some place to mount it. I think you need a 1/2" hole, maybe 9/16".

On the bumper yes.I think it maybe a 1/2. Debating on buying a half brushguard and or an electric blanet and getting a site with an electric hook up.

What is trick-or-treat day? I'm thinking about going, but I take the Skoolie packed with kids out Halloween and can't make that day. And I'm not camping either. If I go it would be Saturday if nobody will be there early Friday.

That stock truck--I dunno man. I've lost friends at Attica because I thought their stock trucks would do a little better than they did--and over the damage I thought was acceptable to the average person. You can drive around everything pretty much. At least in the Green area. But basically--you aren't going home without some damage. A mirror knocked off. A window broken. A door panel dented. A bedside caved in. A rock in the stream wipes out the t-case. Something is going to happen. Even on the bunny slopes. A B2 with a stock suspension, wacked fenders, welded axle and 31s can go anywhere out there with acceptance of damage. A nice looking girlie truck is going to suffer a couple blows. Just a fact. Jeeps do a lot better because of the wheelbase and their body is designed a little higher up.

Halloweenie is Saturday, but the park closes at 5. Plenty of time to get back to the kiddo's :D. Not sure of anyone elses plans but I'll still be there Sunday if you plan to come then. Won't be there till ~ 5:30 eastern or so Friday evening.

There's always a risk when wheeling. I've been there a few times without getting any damage, and I've been there a few times and left with some serious battle scars. That being said, I've never been there with a stock truck.

I think he could physically run the green trail, some damage may ensue but that'd only be because its pretty tight. There's only one ledge on Orange that I can think of that would give him problems coming down, being that low to the ground.

Wheeling a stock truck in a dedicated ORV park, I wouldn't expect to be able to attack every obstacle. I dunno - either way he could tool around in the dunes, which makes up like a third of the park.

Whatta ya say Tony? Have you had your truck to a park before or will this be its maiden voyage?

I've been to SMORR once for a day. Hit their version of a lvl 3 trail and my truck did it with street tires and no TB crank. Yes, I did dent the fender up pretty good, but I knew the risks going in and fixed the damage! I also know my limits as well. As long as someone lets me ride with em on the more bitchin trails I'll be good! I' didn't buy a 4x4 just to do street driving on! On a side note. My trucks cherry still needs a good popping! :icon_thumby:

Been lookin at a local JY that has an 87 ranger 4x4 with a blown rear end. They just want to much for it. Trying to get em down. If I get that. I'll gut it and make it a dedicated trail rig. But that will be a while off.

I checked out SMORR's website. Looks like they've got some pretty gnarly trails!

At least you know what to expect then. I'm not bringing anyone with me so I've got an available seat. I'm sure you could hop in for a little bit if you wanna see some of the more difficult stuff.
