2001 Ford Ranger 2.5L 5speed Manual 2WD. I just picked up this Ranger a couple days ago for a good price because the dash cluster doesn’t fully function. The issues I’m having are; the speedometer rests at 0mph and doesn’t move, the temperature gauge is stuck at max temp even when the ignition is turned off and the oil pressure gauge doesn’t move either and sits at 0, lastly non of the dash illumination lights work. I have checked fuses and was able to fix the obd2 port with a simple fuse but after that I was getting no engine codes with my cheap obd2 code reader. I also replaced the blown fuse 33 for the park bulb but that was the only thing that it said was on the circuit. Any help diagnosing would be greatly appreciated.

If it was me? I'd pull the cluster and check the connectors. Look for burned spots and maybe clean the contacts. Perhaps, if you were so inclined, replace the 194 bulbs (with incandescents) since you have it out.

That's where I'd start.

How long has this been going on? Was this a known issue when you got the truck?

Regarding the temp gauge, mine doesn't reset to minimum until I turn the truck back on, I.e. it won't come down from operating temperature untill i turn the ignition back on. It sounds like it may be a power or signal issue.

Also, if speedometer and odometer don’t work, there is a tiny plastic worm gear that drives those in the cluster. You can buy replacements.

Other than that, I’m moving this to the correct section…
