Big thanx to all on this forum who have given their advice and ideas. Duraspark conversion is now complete and the B2 is purring like a kitten. Runs way better than she did when I first got her. Actually turned out to be a lot of fun doing the conversion. Best part is that I only had to put about $150 into it. I reused the 2150 carb, but made a manual metering block to replace the electric one.

Only one question left..........On a C-5 transmission, what is the tube running up the passenger side of the bell housing and ending near the distributor? The one on my B2 has been capped off, but what did it do before it was capped?
Thanx again
Ace

That tube is your fill tube and dipstick tube for the transmission fluid.

Congratulations! Did you run into any problems on making the metering block for the carb?

The dipstick tube comes up the drivers side and has the dipstick in it. This one comes up the passenger side and is much smaller in diameter, and it makes a little "s" curve (to tight of bend for a dipstick) on the top of the bell housing. It almost looks like a vacuum line or something.

either a vacuum line or a breather tube then.

Actually, the hardest part of the metering block was finding the material to make it out of. I eventually bought a cutting board from Wal-Mart for about $11. It was 7/16" thick, but worked quite well.

Thanks for the added info on the metering block for the carb. Really gets me thinking about doing my Duraspark conversion soon. And on the tube thing, sounds like it might be the vacuum line for the transmission modulator.

Took the B2 out on the highway and it doesn't automatically shift. I have to manually place it in gear. Could a lack of vacuum cause this? If the tube I'm questioning is a vacuum line to the trans, what kind of vacuum, ported or manifold, does it require.

Pretty sure that it just goes to the vacuum tree on the manifold.

That did it!!!!!! One vacuum line from manifold to my mystery tube and .....BOOM.....Shifts, drives, stops........I am ready for winter. Couldn't have done it without the help from these guys here. THANX
