I was driving home yesterday and noticed a whine coming from my radio. It is stock. It varied with the engine speed and I came to the conclusion that it was my alternator. I then parked in my driveway and turned the vehicle off. I went inside to take a nap and then a little later went to try to start it so I could see what was going on. I put the key in and nothing, No dash lights, wouldn't turn over, nothing. Then I try to jump start it with my mom's car. I couldn't get it started but that just must have been bad jump starting cables because they were kind of warm when I took them off. Anyway, I then went to get a new alternator and came back. I was then going to take off the battery to charge it so I could install the new alternator. I opened the door and the interior light was pretty bright. So I then put the key in and cranked it over and it started. It was like the battery was perfectly charged. Did the same thing this morning and it started right up. What's the deal here guys? I was told by one of my friends to check for bad connections and he also told me that I might have a bad voltage regulator too. Sound right to you guys? It's a long post. I know. Sorry.

Take it to a parts store and have the charging system checked, also have your battery load tested. But before you do that thake the connections off the battery and clean them. If the regulator was bad the battery light on the dash would be on telling you there is a problem.

also, double check your battery-to-frame/engine block ground. seems there are way more problems with ground wires than fuses, cb's, fusible links, etc. just my $.02.

Yea your right. I put a body lift on my truck and my firewall ground came loose and killed my battery. jumped and charged it and now its fine

There's nothing wrong with the jumper cables, when current passes through wire, it heats up.

check the battery volts and clean all the grounds with sandpaper metal to metal and litely sand the battery terminals and make sure the terminals on the start relay are clean and tite

Then take it for a diagnostic or you can do it yourself look in the tech library under charging
