I'll be getting back to work on my project truck here after awhile and a thought arose. I'm still running my little ranger t case, but I'll be rebuilding my 302 to make around 300 pony's and 400 is ft lbs of torque.
so should I just swap back into f150 t case because I'm not thinking it's gonna stand up of course I'll have clock the case to make it fit but for longevity I'm thinking it's gonna payoff.
So if someone knows more about this than me please do share I'm looking for more info on this

What do you have for a trans?

I don't plan on going much higher for power, the only reason I have a NP208 waiting in the barn is for when I sneak up on a fullsize OD transmission.

The only reason I can see for going to a F-150 transfer case (e.g. BW1356) is that it bolts up to the transmission which bolts up to the 302.

The BW1354 uses the same diameter sprockets as the NP231 and the NP231 is rated for over 1800 ft.lb. of torque (BW1354 chain is actually 1.25" wide while the NP231 is only 1", but chain strength isn't only factor in strength).

So long as you don't let the chain wear out; BW1354 can take power of 302. (Other parts will break first).

How would a 1350 compare? The stock t-case for his black first gen would be the BW1350.

Same chain, same bearings in 1350 as 1354. Does the wider separation of output bearings on 1350 help (better leverage) or hinder (case deflection)? They would be close, but 1350 should be slightly stronger...

I have a aod with a fmvb to a manual t-case that's original to the Ranger I'll be turning 33 12.50s as well.

The thing that's concerning is the little output shaft that I have to use to run the t-case with my advance adapter setup. I don't want to have it shatter if I have to mash on the 5.0. Then have parts play ping pong and make expensive noises that no one likes.

Did you get an adapter then?

Because a RBV t-case won't mount to a AOD without a $4-500 adapter.

Yes I have a adapter it came with the truck
