Guys this truck issue could be: bad, really bad or...awh ****

maybe. get a carbed motor and you wont have to worry about it. or a 6.9 diesel:headbang: i have to talk to a guy Monday about 2 250s he has on the yard, both diesels. ill let you know what i find.

i like the idea but how would a 6.9 fit in a half ton? :icon_confused:

ok guys im running into town now to get the starter. im gunna fill er up with coolant and see if i smell exhaust in the coolant and look for the white smoke, then if that don't show anything the presser testing the cooling then compendious testing it. i have never used them before so im hoping i dont screw anything up...

ok starters in works great now for the results of the initial investigation:

ideled it a bit then took it for a 15ish mile mixed drive hiway and town with some idling it went slowly up to mid range then up to the very top of the norm range so i shut it off before it got to hot it then boiled over out of the recovey tank.

while it was idling it had bubbles in the recovery tank and theres been fumes that are a greyish couler.

have not seen white smoke from the exhast and it smells normal from what i can tell but the coolent smells a bit off from the fresh stuff.

when it cools a bit im going to recheck the oil.

my fan when i shut the truck off it spun for a bit longer and i can free spin it by hand and theres no restance really.

im going back to town to price testers.

well guys bad news its blown:bawling:

:bawling::bawling::bawling::bawling::bawling:

Hmm.............. maybe not. If it's a head gasket, then it can still be saved. Hardest part is moving the intake out of the way and lifting the head off the block.

The biggest thing here is how long has coolant been in the oil? The longer it's been there, the more wear and tear it's gonna do to your bearings.

Man drop a Windsor in it youll get better gas mileage and less strain on your motor... If the 302 ever goes in my 93 thats wat ill do

the plan is to pull my engine apart and see how bad it is then replace the gaskets as needed or if its bad the heads then im calling to set up a list of 302 engines both local to me and a few from IronRangers list, and if none of them are able to be worked out a list of cheap RBVs or FS trucks under 600 to bide the time and run til i can fix "da ford"

and theres been no coolent in the oil but the exhast gases are coming through to the rad and the recovery tank.

thanks for looking for me Paul, il be keeping that 302 you found on the top of the list as it runs and drives and seems safer then a junkyard pulled one.
