GT40X heads worth 800.00?

I found a set of Ford Motorsport GT40X aluminum heads for sale. The guy said he would take 800.00 OBO. Would this be close to a good price? He already sold the rockers. So keep in mind i'll have to buy those as well.

They would be about $1100 for the pair through Summit. I would be cautious buying used aluminum heads. If you find out that they need work, then there goes the 300 you saved buying used heads.

Ok thanks guys. Turns out they were on a drag racing car with 150 passes on it.
I might go check them out.

A LOT of damage could be done in that time. If they look good, tell the seller you want to get them magna-fluxed and an overall check by a machine shop, if they come back good every one is happy. If they come back bad he should do the right thing and buy them back. If he says no to letting you have them checked and possibly having to buy them back, I would walk away FAST. If he won't guarantee them for a day or two while in the hands of a competent machine shop, something might be up.

Don't think you can magnaflux aluminum heads. Tell him you want to check them for cracks or other damage and offer him $600

I had a set of these on my car and the car over heated due to a bad harness on my fan. and the exhaust seat fell out about a week later. cause the aluminum changed due to the heat.these heads are notorious for this problem .
when my car overheated it only got to about 220 before I got it cooled back down so beware if you can get them checked for metallurgy problems and if they are ok then do it.
if it were me I would say no thanks
