That interior looks killer, really coming together nice. vroom, vroom.:3gears:

ya,she's getting there.been doing some tweaking on the tunnel.and just tore out the left front suspension to get the header out so i can finish it.

also been working on the rear diff's top bracing, and got the parts for the throttle linkage ordered today.

i was going through my to-do list and marked the items that need to be done so i can fire it up again and move it under it's own power for the first time.

That would be badass I hope a video will persue. I glad I havn't missed much I havn't been on in over a week I still getting caught up on my subscibed threads I missed 12 pages on the pointless thread....

What happened? I figured there would have been post in the why am I awake forum. I'll PM. sorry tom.

as mentioned above, the left header was being prepared for removal.the position of the collector is critical,so some temporary bracing is added to keep it in place.there is also some bracing added by the flanges.

gt6003-74.jpg

once removed, some measuring shows the flange ends haven't stayed aligned as well as i would like.this means that i'll need to make a fitting jig to finish this,as i can't have it so it doesn't bolt back on the motor.

gt6005-46.jpg

i decided to use a chunk of 2x4x1/8'' tube to make the jig.this will be rigid enough to keep everything in line.to transfer the bolt pattern i simply pressed a piece of cardboard against the studs and then center punched the marks right onto the metal.

gt6006-29.jpg

i drilled and tapped the holes to 5/16nc for studs to be mounted.

gt6007-29.jpg

the backside i drilled 11/16'',this is just big enough to fit a 1/2'' socket through, since for the studs i'm using bolts run through the back sticking out the front.this way i can tighten them.

gt6008-20.jpg

with the studs in,it's ready for use.

gt6009-17.jpg

now i can do all the work i need to and not worry about the tubes warping and not allowing the header to fit back on the motor.while most of my jigs and templates are discarded right after i'm done with them, this one and the one for the intakes will be saved.

Oh man that's a lot of work., 6 per side and no room would be fun to make some for the 2.9 in mine though about much in tubing do you have in that so far?
why is the ending of the collector sleeved? also wouldn't the longer snaky tubes loose a lot of power from restriction?:icon_confused:

Holy crap is that the footwell thats a quarter inch away from the collector, if so you going to need some of those special nascar racing shoes to drive it to keep your feet from melting.

actually,it's 1/8'' away.

there'll actually be a panel inside the footwell for a footrest that will stand 1'' off the firewall, and there will be insulation between.but still,it'll get hot.i'll also have a thin asbestos panel between the header and the firewall for a tiny bit more protection.

about $200 each side.

tell that to the formula one guys:D
actually,as long as a round section is maintained it has little effect if there's a bunch of bends.
why is the ending of the collector sleeved?

this;

gt6016.jpg

the chrome inlet elbows for the sidepipes are 3'' diameter, but step down to 2 1/2'' on the ends.i have no use for this bit,it makes more sense just to go 3'' right off the headers.

gt6017.jpg

so back to the bandsaw.

gt6003-44.jpg

some snug fitting rings are made to fit inside the elbow tube.

gt6004-27.jpg

the inner ring is welded to the header outlet and an outer ring is formed.

gt6005-29.jpg

with both rings welded on,a pocket is formed for the sidepipe elbow to fit into.

gt6006-16.jpg

mounting the sidepipe to the frame will be all that is needed to keep the header and pipe together.some fiberglass rope in the bottom of the pocket will be used as a gasket.

this will allow the little bit of isolation that i need,in a package that doesn't take up any room.

i see i see...would of went back a few pages looking but...could be really far back how much talking gets thrown around when no pics
