Gt-12

there were some early outboards that used that concept to get reverse.

you had to stop the motor, then restart it backwards to get reverse.there were no gears.that would be a major pain in the butt.

that's the beauty of two-strokes though, don't care which direction they run in. that would be a major pain in the ass though on an outboard

easier to deal with than a 21 speed truck lol...

Hmmm.... Two stroke ranger Tom? I know you wanna!

When i have the money (if i ever have the money) i'd like to put a detroit 16v92 in the bed of a ranger.

i've been a fan of two stroke engines since my motorbike racing days, four or six V6 outboards hooked together(with individual chambers,of course)would have a neat sound to it.

probably use a lot of gas, though.

That would sound pretty Zippy!

kinda like a swarm of bumblebees coming at ya.

tie four evinrude 250s together and you've got 1000hp of pretty reliable engine that's still relatively easy to get parts for and cheap to acquire(people are practically giving away two-strokes these days.well, not practically-actually,i just picked up those two 200s in the spring for the cost of going out and picking them up)

i figure two pairs end to end, then gear them side by side like the cranks on the old ariels or tz 500s and you'd have 24 cylinders of two-stroke terror.

and those engines still have a very broad powerband.and they're light.

cool.:icon_hornsup:

You've officially made me want a two stroke dirt bike to goof off with this winter. Any suggestions?

oh,geez...there's so many.i was always partial to yamahas, but it really comes down to what you like.they all work on the same principles.air cooled is simpler, but that means something more than 25 years old.

the newer the bike, the better the suspension and brakes, but you're often getting into less servicable engines.

i'd kinda like to put an old yz 500 engine into a newer frame with the old school tank and bodywork on it.that would be pretty cool.

I love the smell of PreMix in the morning!!

Ride your new street bike down Toph and Ill strap you on one of my 250's.
Should have the CR Honda running this weekend.
Doc can grab a quick flight down and hop on the YZ Yamaha.
I should have the DRZ400 in 2 more weeks and cant wait to ride it.
