Ground Battery Terminal for 03 Ranger

Greets All -

I have an 03 Ranger and the negative battery terminal connector is cracked and I noticed its a specialized piece and not just a simple ground wire..I was hoping if someone could tell me what type of replacement terminal connector they have used to remedy this problem? Did you just cut off the old connector and just splice in a generic type or?..Appreciate any help ..ty

well, it still has to connect to a regular battery with standard posts or side connectors. can't see how it could be too special really. some have an extra wire that goes to an additional grounding point on the body or frame, but most just ground to the engine block. how 'bout a pic of your cable terminal?

well the one I have looks very similar to this but is corroded

and these are the only replacement types I have seen

as you can see their is quite a difference in the way the 2 connect to the gounding harness, and I really want to avoid a hack job if possible and keep it clean

either style will work. the upper one is obviously much thinner metal and is probably why it corroded. the bottom one is lead and will last much longer if treated regularly with either those pads that go under it or the spray cleaner. also, the bottom one is the way more common style. the other you might find in marine parts places, if you really want that type. good luck.

thanks. I went with the non lead style because its close to oem and I didnt have to hack up my harness...not happy with the fit but it works fine....
