1990 2.9L, 2WD ford ranger. I recently changed my carrier bearing, because it was a mass of rubber. I put it back together and since then there has been a grinding when I stop. I don't know if I didn't get the carrier bearing on properly and the driveshaft might be sticking out aways of the transmission, but I changed both the brake pads and calipers, the rotors should be good, I don't see a lot of wear on one side of the brakes compared to the next. any more information you need just ask. I really appreciate your help.

more info

I lifted the back of the truck off the ground and put it in drive and gassed and braked it, so it shouldn't have anything to do with that, but it has started to do it when going down hill, its coming from directly behind the drivers side wheel. not sure if it has something to do with the suspension or not. any ideas?

Grinding when stopping? Sounds to me like you better be checking some brakes!

Carrier bearing will make noise all the time.

I know this sounds far fetched but I have seen it happen. Make sure one of the pads is not turned around with the metal back plate contacting the rotor.
