i have a 94 ranger 2.3L with over 200K and i am having issues with reverse. when i go to put the truck in reverse it will either go in gear and be fine or some times it will feel like its in gear and when i let my foot off the clutch it will grind and pop out. I am hoping this isnt a slave/master cylinder issue. Anyone think its the syncro in the tranny?

reverse isnt syncronized. sounds like a worn or not completely disengaging clutch to me.

If reverse was sycronized then it would be possible to shift into it on a 3rd to 4th shift. Or even from a 5th to 4th downshift, and you would be in trouble.

Reason Reverse grinds sometimes.

Did you try double clutching?

later,
Dustin

i can feel when its in gear but i have to keep my hand on the shifter with pressure in reverse or it will pop out of gear.
