Greets!

i say you bag it on some 18's... lol hahahaha j/k

maybe a 2 inch budget lift and some 31" bfg a/t's on some black nice rims..

Not a bad find if it runs good. You can just clean it up a bit and keep your eyes on the junkyards for some new fenders or whatever. For 625 you can get alot worse lol.

As for aftermarket, theres a good amount you could do. First i would get it back to its former glory and get rid of the dents and such. Then you could do stuff like clear corner lights, custom grille, new wheels and tires, maybe a few decals if thats your thing, any misc interior stuff that catches your eyes lol. And a lift will run you a couple hundred dollars depending on what you want. if your not really wanting to do too much offroading, a bodylift would a a good cheap way. Get a 3" Lift maybe for a hundred or so dollars. Bumper relocation brackets you will want also to fit the bumpers up with the body afterwards lol. You would want bigger tires tho because those little tires on a lifted truck look weeeird :P

Good luck :D

*groans* oh Dog.. please no. >.> *facepalm* ;)

Is that little 4Banger enough to push 31's? O.o

Oh man, tell me about it. I can't believe what some people want for vehicles... especially the non running ones. :icon_confused:

I'm not looking to do anything special with it, honestly. It's going to be my baby though. It seems like a pretty easy truck to work on.. I'm pretty nimble, and know my way around a shop, and am -very very- good at RTFM.

I'd like to put good rubber on it, all the way around, I thought the alloy's that are on it are pretty decent, I could def. have found worse. I wanna swing by Harbor Freight and pick up one of those neat little body hammer out kits they have for like 20 dollars or whatever, and try and bang that fender out.

Are the clear turn signal lenses something that y'all are keen on, or is there another reason behind it?

As for a lift - I'd love to do maybe 2-3 inches, tops. Nothing excessive... It's not too much my thing. It's neat and all, but money's always tight, so super items are a rarity. I'd love to be able to clear 31's at most, so long as the drive train can handle that much rubber.

I think it's got 195 70 14's on there now.

4 banger will push 31's IF geared properly...

I find that incredible. And totally awesome.

Is there an easy way to check the gearing for the rear end? Diff stamp? Doortag?

I keep trying to search for stuff in using the forum search, but it times out or errors. ( Blaming Comcast at this point ) I really don't want to be known as the "new guy who spammed his intro post with "how can I's" and "where can I get's"

i don't care if you ask questions... some do tho.

diff tag or door sticker are both easy ways of knowing the gears..
tech library has a thing on the axle codes for the sticker

as far as the diff tag goes it will be like 3(space)55, is an open 3.55:1 ratio
a 3L55, is a limited slip 3.55:1 ratio.

OH! That's perfect, very similar to identifying the diff in my old 4Runner.

I'll make note of the Tech Library, I haven't wandered around much - I've mostly link stalked, seeing how y'all have stuff laid out here in this forum.

How much of a supernoob am I? I thought Open Diff and Limited Slip were the same thing.

--edit--
OMG Tech Library = best thing ever.

yeah it happens.. but it's okay. just be ready to listen and learn.
the tech library is amazing. i spent about 3 hours reading stuff in JUST the tech library when i started messing around on TRS. it's awesome... and check out the threads in the Mag section to.
link to that is here http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5
tech library link is http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/index.php

Oh yeah, already in the tech library, and I just yoinked the sticky for the online repair manuals. I'm a huge fan of digital FSM's.

I am dumbfounded at how much information is amassed in there. I could literally build a truck from scratch based on information in the tech library. This is the best Ranger site ever!

Body lifts are pretty cheap for a lift, so you could do that. Clear corners just look better in alot of people's opinions.

if you do a body lift, please to God do it right... with the bumper brackets and everything. and make some gap guards.

I think a little lift would do some good. This is my very first pickup truck ( I've owned a 89 Plymouth Colt, a 97 Explorer, a 94 Cherokee, a 94 4Runner, an 89 Cherokee, and now this Ranger ) ( huh.. in that order too. )

I'd love to make it look good, and still be entirely practical.

One thing I did notice - I've heard alot of people ( when I was looking to buy ) talking about rusted cab corners - I don't seem to have that problem on this Ranger? Or... was it something that was only relevant to older models?

Oh if there's a right and a wrong way, I'd rather do it the right way.

I hate half-a$$ing anything, especially when real money is involved. I'd likely buy whatever all in one kit lifted it 2 inches and came with everything I needed. Except for anything I'd have to fab or make...which would be an adventure in itself.
