First of all I would like to say that I am a safe driver. I am not perfect and always trying to be more safe and I always obey speed limits. With that said, sometimes people do not recognize that they are doing something wrong. I would like to purchase a devise that would warn me about photo radar approaching. I am looking for a GPS devise that has the capability to plot and beep when an area of interest pops up. This will help warn me to be more careful in that area.....

Does any GPS system have the capability to plot or remember certain locations that will give you advanced warning?

yup pretty much any GPS unit can do said action. wether or not it would be worth all of the effort involved for that? I don't know.

as far as recommendations go, stick with something similar to a Garmin GPS60cx. hand held unit but works great for in car navigation.

Are you saying almost all GPS Systems will remember thirty locations around a city?

yes.
theres also a radar detector out there with gps built in to remember false alarms and hot spots. dont remember the name tho. i think it was whistler.

I Hate this state who the hell thought it would be a good Idea to put photo radar on the freeway. I really hope the that it causes a accident at night from the flash, scaring someone and the family can sue the state for millions. sorry thing about this state are really starting to piss me off. even though I haven't ever got a ticke from the cheaters.

theres an actual flash? i thought those cameras had low-light capability...

ya they have a strobe light that flashes when ever the camera takes a pic.

I was wondering WTF those were.

As for the GPS thing. My Garmin GPS60cs has that ability. I use it most for fishing holes and to prevent run-a-ground on dangerous under water stumps or rocks. But it can be used the same way to plot a hotspot or radar trap. And as a word of advice. Any under pass bridge can be a hot spot. You would never know until you pass under and find about 6 cop cars hiding on the other side.

I noticed your user id.... You fly?

The strobe lights are very dangerous since they can blind someone. They can also frighten at the same time causing someone to overreact causing an accident. I have been caught late at night on cave creak road but I was gong the speed limit. The light was malfunctioning or something. My personal feeling is that it will make people more aware of the speed limits around town. I also feel that forcing people to slow down will ultimately cut down on the number of accidents compared to the accidents that will be from the strobe light.

As for the freeway radar systems, they have a blinking light warning systems before to warn people. I assume as they put photo radar into the freeway system you will see less and less warning systems for them.

Arizona/Scottsdale is a test bed. This system is only a matter of time before they are installed at every major city in the US.

A group of politicians looking for a way to screw revenue out of as many people as they can, and by being politically correct in calling is "safety."

You can bet there are probably a few that thought it would be a good idea because, well, people are getting away with something they shouldn't.

Yes but you can bet someone sold them about the safety idea. If the system cuts down on the number of accidents then they should be a good thing.

I read an article today that said the Phoenix highways will be monitored by vans instead of stationary systems. Do you know if radar / laser detectors work on photo radar systems?

i have a cobra radar dectector but sometimes it goes off to late and the police is like 100 yards up the road but other times is works pretty good but then again it was only like 80 dollars or something like that
