...only because i found out that IDIOT mechanics cross-threaded two lug nuts on the passenger side, and i had to go through hell and put on new wheel studs.

All in all, they seem great and work as they should (havent fully 4x4 tested them yet)

But, I have to ask you guys that have them, how the HECK did you get the old ones off without breaking the tabs? Thats the only way I could get them off.

Uh... I just turned the internal hub assembly and it popped out,

However, I just permanently locked mine. Worked great and I haven't had a problem since. I did crack the plastic sleeve, but that doesn't matter now. Stupid Ford and their vacuum. :annoyed::rolleyes:

since this post already exists , i have a 2000 ranger 4x4 and i looked at the AVM kit and i wondered if it would work on my truck , i know that they said it works on some 00's but how do you know which ones ? help me if you could please

It depends on if your truck was equipped with the vacuum hubs or a live axle setup.

To find out pop off the center caps. If you see a black hub, then yes the AVMs will work. If you see the end of an axelshaft secured by a large nut (like a front wheel drive car) then no the AVMs will not work.

6 jigsaw blades and and some tape to hold them in place until you squeeze.

thanks 4x4RangerGuy i have to take it into the shop at the college i am at tommorow to do some work on it and i will check then

yea , i looked today , the truck was built 12/99 but it appears to have the live axle , i took the center cap off and all i saw was a large nut like on a front wheel drive car
