I was looking at the leaf springs that I got with the lift, they look like they're about three inches short, I'm hoping I just have to compress them some when I install them? Has anyone been here before?
Thanks for any info!!:icon_confused:

need more info. what brand? what year? sometimes, they make springs the same length, but with more arch, shortening the overall length. a softer spring will flatten and lengthen to match the stock spring length

and I have some explorer leafs, would it be better to use the explorer leafs instead? I got the lift second hand, but it was still in the box, and I got it cheap, so if I don't use the lift springs I don't care

Is it common for these lift springs to be shorter in length when they're not installed?

yes and no.

you should be able to move the shackle forward to easily mount the spring. actual length should be the same or a bit longer then your stock springs depending on actual intended height.

I got the rear springs in, I gained about 8 inches of lift, I knew my old springs were bad but had no idea they were that bad!!!

I haven't gotten the front done yet but here's the rear, compare it to my avatar

I think you should just leave it like that. You will get better mileage if it always thinks it's going downhill.

Mine looked like that when I put my f150 springs on. It's a nice rake

Got most of the lift in the front today, as far as the brake hoses go, what are some things people have done for making them longer? I seen in the tech library about connecting two lines, but I don't think I need them that long, or do I?

I have the same lift as you. I just used a couple pieces of scrap metal to make drops for the brake lines and hoses. Flat steel, roughly 3-4" long by 1 1/2" wide rectangle. Drilled a hole at the top and bolted it to the existing brake hose hole. Drilled another hole through the bottom and slipped the hose through. Secured hose with an e-clip, and tightened on the steel line. If i drive the B2 to work tomorrow I'll see if i can get a picture. It was supposed to be temporary til I could fab something cleaner, but it works and nobody can see it anyway, so it will probably be there forever. :D Also, thumbs up on getting 8" of lift out of yours, mine must not have been worn out enough, as I only gained 6" hahah.

Pics would be great! So you just added some brake line and then attached your existing hose? In my avatar my tires sat right at the fender, now they're 8 inches above, so yeah my old springs were real bad!
