Got my first Ranger ('96)

Just got a '96 Ranger but it has some serious problems. Hoping to sort them out with info on the site. Looks to be full of very usefull articles and threads. Glad to be here.

I'm taking it this is your first post on the site.
Would you mind giving us some more info on your truck.
What size motor does she have?
Is she manual or automatic?
2wd or 4wd?

I personally have a 94 4.0l automatic.

We really like pictures of the trucks a lot.

Thanks for the welcome. She is a '96 with the 2.3l, 5 speed manual and 2x4. Previous owner supposedly had the engine replaced but now it backfires and doesn't always idle right so have to sort that out before I can use her. Suspect a possible vacuum leak somewhere, but the mess under the hood will make it fun to track down

I truly can understand the mess that PO = previous owners can make.
I too got my truck used.
There is a book I learned about here on TRS it's titled,
Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual.
I've found a few for my truck on eBay.
If you look you might be able to find one for your 96 as well.

In fact I looked real fast myself

There's a used one there for your truck for just a little over $35.00. Most likely there will be taxes you know the government wants their cut.
