Got LASIK yesterday...

I always asked if it were complications after surgery and I'm wondering if for the total cost of $ 2000. It's worth it that we go there??

So far, I haven't had any complications, but I'll let you know if anything comes up. The only real side effect is that I have a headache like when I get new glasses, and when it's dark, lights get little halos around them.

I've been told several times that, that is just temporary, that it goes away in a month or two...

yea i never had a problem with things in my eyes till about 2 years ago then i got steel in it and have to have it drilled out. after that ihate things in my eyes id rather be blind. your much braver then i am sir

I had Lasik 10+ years ago. Three hours of prep, 15 mins of surgery, 20/15 the day after, currently 20/10.

Yes, it is irritating, mainly to the inside of the eyelids. It feels like your eyes are a little dry. The corneas do not have nerve endings.
The halos and other visual issues like them usually go away in about 2-4 weeks. They are a result of the corneal incision.
I have a video of the surgery (close up). My surgery was with a micro-keratome (knife). Watching that is what bugs me the most.

Worth every penny??? HELL YES, and I'd do it again if necessary.:icon_thumby::icon_hornsup:

...and have 20/15 vision today! This surgery is absolutely amazing!

How bad was your vision prior?

My wife had it done about 10 years ago. They had to do hers in stages, she was at 20-250 before (think coke bottles) and went to 20-40 after the first session. A year later, they did the final tweak, and she went to 20-20 both eyes.

They did tell her that since she was so bad before that she would need reading glasses as she got older, but nothing drastic. And, she now uses +1.00 readers (OTC at WalMart, etc) just for reading and computer work.

They mention anything like that to you?

**** that, my eyes are watering just thinking about that.

My eyes started watering the moment I first opened this thread! :annoyed:

Yeah, I wouldn't have done it if there were a scalpel involved. I trust robot hands more than people hands.

Agreed. Robots don't run the risk of sneezing when they're about to make the cut!

I don't remember the number, but I couldn't read a speed limit sign past 40 feet, and I couldn't read a magazine unless it was within about a foot and a half of my face.

Yeah, they said there was a high probability that I would need reading glasses around my 40th birthday.

20/13 baby. All mine. It's odd too, because I'm the only person in my family who doesn't need glasses for anything at all.

You lucky bastard. The only exception from the rule I got was a receding hairline. Nobody in my family goes bald, or even thin-haired. Then I came along, and you can already see my hairline receding at 21.

I'm going into law enforcement, so I can't risk anything happening to my eyes by doing lasik. I know there's lots of successful cases and such, but its just too much of a risk, one slip up and you're blind for life... I'll just have to stick to my contacts and glasses I guess!

Good to see it was successful!
