Well it's been 3 months since my Ranger ran, and it's running again!!! I had a mechanic we knew come by and he checked and verified a few things. He noticed it was flooding, and all he did was disconnect the fuel pump relay and he had me go to clear flood mode and tried to start it. He reconnected the relay and had me do the same thing. It started right up! I'm so excited!

Well 2 hours later I go to start the beast and it won't start again. Piece of sh*t!

yeah

flood mode?

whats the fuel pressure? is the regulater bad?

Not sure if the regulator is bad. I still don't know how the hell it started up so fine after 2.5 months just sitting. Like I said, he just disconnected the relay and plugged it back in after some cranking, and she fired right up. It does have plenty of pressure at the valve, and the injectors are getting the right pulse I think. Is there a test for the regulator?

Anything to check now? The no start condition is something fuel related. It still smells like it is getting way too damn much fuel. When I went to start the truck 2 hours later, it started for a split second and stopped.

I had a 92 ranger that i bought in october 08, and i put it up for sale in december, a guy came to look at it, i hadnt started it since october, and i put a battery in it, and it started right up :D made me happy to hear it roar one last time (no exhaust was on it, only the cat :) p.s. the guy bought it lol

She's getting too much fuel at start up, too much to ignite I believe.
Any suggestions?

IAC clean or replace it. If is on the side of the upeer intake plenum. Also check the fuel pressure pull the vaccum line of the back of the regulator and if theres fuel there it is bad.

No fuel in that vacuum line. Will try to clean the IAC tomorrow.

Check the fuel pressure, it sounds like it's too high. Might be a blocked return line.

Try pulling the FP relay agin and see if it starts. Take one sparkplug out and see if its wet. Dry that one with starting fluid (it evaporates the gas off) and replace it and see if it fires off. Most engines will not start with wet plugs, but usually drying just one of them and it will pop off for you.

Could the injectors be leaking as well? I'll try pulling the FP relay again and see if that changes anything. When I did have it going I could immediately do a restart just fine, so I think I will pull codes just to check.

Check the basics, got to have fuel, compression, and spark to run. Then see if you have too much gas...
