I got my second Ranger yesterday and it's eerily similar to the last one I had. First one was just over a year ago when I was looking for a truck to help me move to Oregon from Kansas City. It was a beat up 90 ext. cab with over 300k miles. It barely made it over the mountains and the snow while pulling a fully-loaded Uhaul trailer. I sold it last June when I needed the money and got back what I paid for it.

This latest Ranger is another 1990 ext. cab with the 2.9/manual setup. It's in great condition with only 122K miles. I wasn't necessarily looking for another Ranger, but it was the best truck for the money I could find at the moment. I think I'll be keeping this one for awhile as it's in such great shape. Might put a truck topper on it, and I've already bought some nice 15" Jeep rims for some larger tires. We'll see how things work out. It'll remain mostly stock and may make the appearances at some local car shows and cruises.

Look forward to becoming a contributing member here at TRS... Chris

Welcome Chris!

That looks like a very clean Ranger. If you don't mind me asking...how much are they selling it for?

It is a super clean truck and best thing is... everything works as it should. It looks and drives like a 5 year old truck, not a 20 year old! :)

As far as price, I probably paid too much at $3400, but I know that trucks like this don't come along everyday, Not even every month! So, I'm happy with it, and I'll probably keep it for quite a while.

3400 isn't a super bad price, not where i'm living atleast... the 2.9 was a pretty solid motor too! welcome to the site!

The price is only high if you feel you paid too much, but that is one clean truck for its age. :icon_thumby:

Wow, that's one sexy 2.9. I usually don't like them... I'm a 96-01 guy myself...

Wow, well I'm glad you like it!

Enjoy the forums and dry and sunny Oregon:)

Thanks for the kind words about the truck... and being in "dry and sunny Oregon".

Well... a couple of days after I bought the truck, the front brakes locked up while I was driving it. Good thing I wasn't driving it fast or anything, because they got so hot they started smokin'! I towed it back to the dealership, and needless to say, they were suprised to see me bringing it back on a tow truck. :D

They immediately got it into a service bay and checked things out. Based on what I told them had happened, they think the proportioning valve went out or something. Anyways, they replaced the valve, and the rest of the complete brakes up front (pads, rotors, AND calipers... and repacked all the bearings and stuff too) just to be sure. They took care of the bill, and didn't charge me a thing. Made me really glad I bought from a dealer that offered a warranty :)

So, I'm back on the road again, and glad to have my Ranger back in even better shape than when I bought it! I'll post more pics over the weekend. It really is a super clean lil' truck, and I'm really glad I got it. It's good to know that the 2.9 is a good engine too. Should have many more years with her still on the road!
