Sounds about right, body work and paint are not cheap.

Less'n your truck is a show truck... just pull the tail light off, and spend an hour or so with a hammer and some 2x4. That way you'll have most of the prep work done if you REALLY want to get it painted. Helps save some money, also! (Yeah, I'm cheap. :D )

pop out the tail light then take a deflated basketball in there pump it up till most of it pops out. redneck bodywork at its best

^^^ Wow, that's a good one!

I did basically the same damage to mine. I went with the hammer + replacement Ebay taillight + zip ties method instead.

How did that happen????

For a less money you could probably find a bed & tail light in the salvage yard, and still have money left over for beer & dinner for your friends after they help you fix the truck!

any of those are better than putting down a grand at the BS.

I'd go with the bed if you have the room to keep a spare. That way you have spare parts.

You could also drill out the 20ish spot welds at the top just under the bed rail and put a new quarter on with pop rivets.

TEN GRAND! Holy Moly! This is only $2,300.00.

Is that a band Aid on your damage? lol

You could get a replacement fender and repaint it for less then that! Him^^^

You I would try the 2x4 and hammers and stuff... I had a dent in my tailgate and with some hammering and stuff its way less noticable. and knocked off like 200- 300 from the quote, I was like what? you charge 600 bucks an hour! it took me 30 minutes to pop out the dent mostly.

Oh -- my coworker helped me pop out a dent with a plunger, too. It was awesome.

Is that a band Aid on your damage? lol
Yeah, it's from the off-road park I frequent. Bastards even made me pay for it LOL. As far as damage repair, meh that's what full coverage insurance is for. You young guys have all this energy and drive, us old folks have insurance LOL.
