I wish I could have gotten an i5, or even i7, but my mom wasn't looking to spend that much. it rates really high according to Windows:
6.4 calculations per second on the processor
5.9 calculations per second for the memory
4.3 on graphics(i don't game, so even this doesn't matter much)
4.9 on the 3d graphics(same as above)
5.9 for the data access on the HD

so far it's a great laptop, only been a day.

sounds pretty good. i got the core i5 on mine for the faster speed and turboboost, but its probably way overkill and its quite a big price jump from the i5.

If you dont mind me asking, how much did that set you(or your mom) back?

sorry about the typo, it's actually a 320GB hard drive...

and everything together (laptop, 3 year warranty, bag, surge protector) was like $1100... the warranty was almost 200, the bag was like 70 i think, so i'm thinking the laptop was around 799. i can't remember for sure and am too lazy to look for the receipt lol. i wish i could have stepped up to an i5, but like you said, it's a big price difference. by the time i'm done with my undergrad, hopefully i can get a new laptop with an i7, or whatever they have. like an i13 hahah.

upset that i didn't think about a touchpad power button. it didn't even cross my mind when buying it. it's disappointing because i know i'll be typing many research papers on this thing, and idk how much of a pain it will be, but i'm hoping it will be little to none. i don't get by manufacturers just don't include it all the time. it's offset to the left, so that basically it fits between my hands when typing, but i'm a big guy, with big hands. and i do see myself sometimes brushing it. it shouldn't be too big of a deal, just wish that i could create an IDEAL laptop.. the first criteria would be it being free. ha.:icon_cheers:

damn, that much for an Acer? I thought those ran cheaper than that. My dell cost me about $1000 and I have the fastest i5, 4gb ram, 500gb hard drive, 9 cell battery. I just dont have an extended warranty. But it did come with lojack free for a year.

I do wish i had a full size keyboard with numberpad, how does that fit with the 15.6" screen?

it rated really high, so i figured it was worth it (rated according to the windows stuff that i posted in the first post)

it's a quality acer, there are cheap ones out there, but i feel that this is quality.

idk how it fits... but it fits lol.

have you tried plugging a mouse into it yet? On my wife's Acer she had when you plugged in a mouse (at least a wireless one) it automatically disabled the touch pad which is nice.

thanks for the tip! i'll check it out:icon_cheers:

If that doesn't work, you should be able to turn it off somewhere in the settings.

Yeah if all else fails I'm sure it can be disabled (I find them useless) and just get a wireless mouse for it.
