My mothers side of the family owned a Ford dealership when I was younger, Bennett Ford in Chester Va. As an aspiring mechanic I had hopes of working there once out of school. Unfortunately, the business was sold out to Haley Ford in 1998. Well luckily enough my uncle ordered a 1998 F-150 XL reg cab short bed 4wd V6 and got it prior to the business being sold. It has been his up until yesterday when he gifted me the truck. 165k miles, all original no aftermarket anything. I picked it up in running driving condition with a dead inspection. Unfortunately as I have been planning a project with my 97 F150 4.6 manual 4wd this may slow that project a bit, but this will live in my driveway along w/ my 1969 Corvette my father left me until I die. Who could refuse!?!?!?!

Also apologies on the lack of utilization of the forum the Bronco II project/issues really got the better of me and I lost a lot of interest. I did drop it back off at the transmission builders yesterday on the way to pick up the new trcuk so we will see what happens from there..

I couldn't refuse...

You're gonna need a bigger garage. Glad to hear you didn't totally give up on the Bronco II... sometimes a break from things is what it takes to get a second wind.

Congrats on the gift. I'm sure you will treat it well.

as long as all the vacuum lines on the back of the engine are ok, that is a good engine.

It already had the intake gasket replaced, i know that was the death of a lot of them. Truck stays around the house mostly but so far so good! I am trying to find an aluminum camper shell for it though! Proving to be harder than originally thought.

yeah. those used to be everywhere and you could get them for 25 to 50 bucks because no one wanted aluminum. now, they are few and far between.

i like the aluminum because its so easy to put on and take off by yourself.

Exactly, i just prefer the look of them as well. Maybe i will get lucky. Want to find a 40/60 seat as well, cloth vs the flat vinyl. Hell unless its made of rubber anything you set on that damn seat ends up in the floor.

Started looking for an aluminum camper shell for this truck, being as I have like 6 trucks or something like that I figured one with an optional camper shell would be nice. Specifically looking for an A.R.E. Classic style was hoping to find one with the rack on top. Happened to be in Northern Va yesterday for work and hopped on marketplace for a few minutes prior to leaving. Perfect find. $50. Guy wasn't home said stop by and leave the money with his sister. Exactly what I did, his brother in law helped me load it and a Dollar General stop later for extra straps I was off. Fantastic find. Need to get the black spray paint off but that will come in time.
