Good Options for 302 swap??

Hi, I am currently building a 1993 ford ranger xlt 2wd into a prerunner. I have the 3.0 v6 manual in it right now. I was looking to go with a v8 to run better with 33s. At first I thought I would forsure go with the explorer 5.0 but then i heard the 2wd were pretty rare to find. I would need that to get a tranny. Do you guys have suggestions??? I was wondering if the mustangs have the same 302 in them (Like a 1992 style). Would love to hear your imput!!

I also forgot to mention....I will be driving this in the summer. Fuel injected vs. crate????
