good lift or not?

Should be fine although I dont know how overloads ride in a ranger

i think im actually going to go with a 4" rough country kit. i am just worried about having to deal with a driveshaft problem when i install the kit, can i put am explorer single piece shaft in without problems? or will the crossmember be in the way of that?
also since my truck is unbelievably already level(i think the leaf's have flatend out) would the kit actually make the rear 1-2" lower than the front since it probably is meant to level it?

here, read this....

so i found this 2" lift online, i have no idea if it would be a good setup or not.
here is the link to the lift, http://www.my4x4store.com/ford/ford-ranger/k30069-ford-ranger-broncoii-2-inch-lift-w-shocks.html
any input would be great. also i am looking at a 4" kit but since i have the 2 piece driveshaft, would it require any other special modification.

stay away from the poly coil spacers...just do stacked washers instead....

no a Expo shaft is way too short to replace the 2 piece shaft...need to look for a 98+ SC 4x4 with the one piece shaft....

You can use a 98 plus ranger 1 piece shaft or a 2002-2005 Explorer sport trac 1 piece shaft to swap in place of your 2 piece shaft.

You need to remove the crossmember that holds the carrier bearing to install a 1 piece shaft.

will removing the crosmember make the frame weak?

no it won't...RangerSVT has his removed....and has not had any problems...

i had enough room that i was able to just remove the carrier bearring mounting plate from the x-member ( but then i only have 3 1/2" of lift in the rear ) ....if i see any signs of rubbing i will just cut it out.....

also when funds allow i will be haveing the stock steel shaft lengthened....it is much smaller diameter than the aluminum one...

Like said, you can remove it if needed. Although if you're really worried about it, you could also just move it forward a few inches as well by lining up two of it's existing holes on the frame and then drilling two new ones to bolt it back up.

At 4" of lift, the driveshaft may just clear it though once you've removed the carrier bearing bracket from the crossmember.

thanks for the advice, i will try first by just removing the mounting plate and see how that goes, if not than i will just take it out.
in my earlier post i also was wondering if since the rear of my truck is already level with the front would the lift make the rear lower than the front? since i beleive it only lifts the back ?2-3"?

Most lift heights are usually referenced to the truck's original factory height. So if your springs are sagged out pretty good, you can expect to see a bit more lift out of it than what's claimed.
