There were F-16's scrambled and in the air to intercept but the choppers beat them out of the country. They probably didn't know anything was happening until they brought in Plan B (a Chinook) after one of the Blackhawks quit on them. I bet that baby rattled windows while it was in town. It would have been more than a political black eye loosing two experimental choppers and possibly a Chinook all three full of seals (and the evidence of why we were there) over another country that we didn't have permission to be in.

Something intrigueing that this brought about was the stealth Blackhawk, apparently they still have some issues to work out but it is a very neat concept. I am looking forward to more information becoming available on that thing.
