good hose to use for power steering?

i dont need to buy any more hose, i have about 20 feet of it in my garage, the same stuff that came off it. the 2 hose clamps slow down the leak for sure, but the bitch still leaks! i had her completely full and went out the driveway and by the time i came back she was dead empty, no longer than 2 minutes for sure

Are you sure the hose is the right size? It should be snug going over the ends.

yes it is snug,, it dont make sense to me. its so simple yet so stupid. with 2 clamps on there as tight as it can go, youd think it wouldnt leak

That's odd, I've never had that issue. If I did though, I would probably try to put a thin film of Permatex #2 gasket maker around the metal hose, and the nipple.

Autozone does sell a return line which is the metal pipe and it comes with rubber hose as well. I don't recall if it attaches any differently than stock though.

:temper: damn, i forgot about gasket maker! ill try that today:damnit1:

just found this, perfect example of where the leak is

good hose to use for power steering?

yup that looks eaxactly like the hoses that are on there now

Maybe for 15 bucks it would be cheaper/easier to go this route, LOL.

ok well there neither napa in my little town and i wont be going to the next town over very soon where they do have it, but my brother is in the city now until saturday so i will give him the part number and get him to bring it home then. thanks alot man!

No worries. I doubt their connection will leak on you, so I'd probably go that route if I were in your shoes. Good Luck! :icon_thumby:

yup. new parts is always better anyways, espically since its a restore project, rather get the new one that get em off the other old truck

after reading that description it says it contains 1 hose, does that mean the 1 kit as in both hoses or just literally 1 hose , like the steel one or the rubber one?

I think since it's already clamped on there, they mean the whole thing (as a unit).
