Good height for a hi-lift?

I was wondering what a good height would be for a hi-lift jack on a b2 with 5-6" of lift and 33s, im not sure how tall she is to the bumpers, but would a 48" jack be good? my rear suspension is pretty well stock so it dont need to max out the suspension a whole lot to get the tires off the ground, but the front suspension consists of jeep coils and extended radius arms. so im not sure if 48" would be good enough to max the suspension, lift the tires off the ground, maxing the suspension, and for how much the jack will probably sink in the ground (yes ill have a block under the jack probably)

as in this jack;

thanks

you'll need a 60" jack for sure. but be very, very careful! those jacks can be killers in a very real sense of the word! make sure you also carry wheel chocks, ratchet straps for stabilizing the truck, and at least 1 or better 2 or more friends close by on the trail to help you out.
just my $.02.

seriously? if i need the 60"er that means i need to go to princess auto which is around 5 hours from me, when i can get the 48"er 5 minutes up the road lol

I need most of my 60" HI-Lift capacity when I use it (6" lift,33"s), regardless of which you buy you will probably find a situation where you need to go just a little higher.

Yup, get the biggest you can find.... and make sure to also pack blocking and a chain/strap to keep the suspension from unloading.

yeah i was thinking of that, i got some industrial ratchet straps that would be perfect for that. thanks

it'll always be an inch to short... ALWAYS.

i got a 60 incher myself. it was $4 more for the 60 vs. the 48. figured, why not? i had a 20% off coupon too. yall got harbor freight up there?

HF's jack any good?

i like it, i'm sure there's some differences between it and the real high lift, but it hasnt given me any problems yet. has a 1 year warranty on and i got it for $40 instead of $70 or $80

right.. my thing is-- if it sucks.. and junk, and broke easy-- i could be dead... of course i don't plan on being under it much w/ a hilift, but....

US-Harbour Freight = Canada-Princess Auto

They sell 'farm jacks' and they sell Hi-Lifts, buy the Hi-Lift if you can as they are MUCH better quality.

I used to max out my 48" Hi-lift with my '92 Ranger, 33's with 4in lift. Then I figured out that if i used a ratchet strap to prevent the axle from dropping when i lift truck. Was much easier to lift, stayed lower more stable:icon_thumby:

yeah i know what you mean, i dont get under the truck unless it's supported by jack stands. i really dont like HF, but sometimes funds require it
