Good deal?

2000 Ranger XLT 4x4 Off-Road
Ext. Cab (4 door)
4.0
5 Spd
4.10 LS
New BGF's
94k miles
Dual exhaust (muffler back)

Pretty clean, no rust, maintenance seems good. Tiny bit of hail damage. Skid plates looked clean. Front skid plate is a little bent but I don't think it takes much to do that, probably from a snow bank because there are no gouges or straches on it.

I want a daily driver that I can take on logging roads and camping. I'm sick of "on the side of the highway" crap.

The guys wants $5,200 and that's as low as he'll go.

That sounds like a VERY good deal. I would take it for a test drive just to make sure that there are no odd sounds and that it rides nice.

But, yeah, that is definitly a good deal(help if there were pics available).

Took it for a drive down the gravel road. Felt good. 4x4 worked. The owner drove it on the highway with me as passenger and it felt fine. No vibrations, A/C blows ice cold, heater works and the mixer box appeas to work as well. The passenger door lock was tampered with so the lock actuators don't seem to work but you can lock and unlock the door manually.

Truck feels pretty tight.

Due for LBJs and maybe OTRs at that mileage. Ask if the front end is original or just look for grease fittings = been replaced.

See if it is live axle or PVH front hubs (big nut in center of lugnuts = live), I'd pass if it were PVH.

I'd ask if he ever changed the gear train fluids, if he says yes, ask how he did the front diff. (suction)
See if the rear axle is LS, if not, I'd definately pass. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Axles.html
Off Road package front skid plate is sheet metal, dents easy.

He's asking a lot for it and it may be worth that to you. I think it's a FAIR price, since a new set of good tires is ~$600+ so that and low miles factors in. It's up to you.

4L10 on the dif.

I'm pretty sure these are PHV. I was planning on the manual hub conversion anyways.

LBJ and OTR aren't a big deal for me either.

I'm in Canada and cars are more expensive up here so I don't think he is out of line on the price. No rust is a big factor.

I'm going for it. Wish me luck!

If I had to buy one, that's about what I would want. Low miles, 4.10, manual and I just love having the extra doors on mine.
Pictures when you get it!
