Glasspacks?

Anyone ever put a glasspack on a 2.0l Ranger? How did it sound was there still a rumble or is it really ricer sounding?

It has a decent sound, but you really need a V6 or V8 to make it sound good.

Generally exhaust is a matter of opinion, so what sounds decent to me might sound awesome to you.

I put a J C Whitney 30" glass pack and cat on my '84 carbed 2.3. Everything is 2.5 inch. It is deep throated and on a cold start it would give out a braaap that would set off a burglar alarm next to me. It's now hooked to my turbo engine. At low revs and no boost it sounds like a Farmall tractor. when the turbo spools up it still has a throaty tone with a little twitter when I back off the throttle.

Well, I have a 2.3 L Ranger, with a glass pack...and after it "wore in" boy does it sound mean.

At first, it kind of sounded like a bumble bee...but now, it's deep and throaty...love it!

alright that helps but im now wondering if the 2.3l and 2.0l sound a different with glasspacks. Does anyone know if the 2.0l sound different than a 2.3L with glasspacks

i have a glass pack on my 2.3 and i thought it sounded ricie in tell i pulled up next to a ricer and i thought mine was much more manily

I put a Summit glasspack on my 2.3L. I think it sounds pretty mean for a four-banger. Sounds pretty throaty at high idle, I love it.

2nd that. My maroon truck has a cherry bomb and it sounds all right. As for the numerous exhaust leaks ... that's another story.

how big are your exhaust systems? because mine is tiny and i was wondering if you guys where running a bigger exhaust. because thats what i want to do. pick up a few extra horses and mpgs. and i was afraid it would effect the sound.

I am running a 2 1/2" that comes out the side in front of the rear tire. I pieced it together and used a Cherry Bomb Turbo Muffler from Pep Boys. It has a nice sound I guess, I've also been told that people can hear me coming. I spent maybe $50 bucks on this set up and have had it for several years now.

does yours ever pop because me likey the pop. everybody has big ol v8 round here so i'd like to have something a little loud that pops when i want it

Mine only "pops" when it's cold out and right after I start it. All cars will "pop" depending on the muffler when decelerating. I don't worry about that sound, I prefer a nice tone overall. The biggest thing is to not have a drone when at cruising speeds. If the drone is too loud, talking becomes an issue and longer drives become a chore.

[95' Ranger SS]

I put a cherry bomb glasspack on my 95' 2.3L and after it gets worn in it sounds pretty mean. People can hear me coming from a good distance. And when i shift down it makes a nice loud bang sometimes and it also pops. But i had a new cat put on cuz the original one was bad and that made it sound better.
