do glasspacks wear out really quick. i went to advanced to get a thrush turbo muffler because i think they sound great but they only had a glass pack. i heard it will fall apart really quick. i'm thinking of taking it back and ordering the turbo. any opinions

Keep the glasspack. They don't wear out super fast. And in my opion they sound alot better than the turbo mufflers. Glasspacks are a lil bit louder but have a better sound. Glasspack=better :)

Exactly. I put mine on about a month ago and it gets sounding better every day. I havent noticed it wearing out badly at all, so I think it's a good idea to keep the glasspack.

i agree for the difference in price :icon_thumby:

Going on 3 years this June with the Thrush glasspack's on my F-150. Put about 35k miles on them. It has cats on it and I do think that helps prolong the glasspacks.

Can someone post a vid of what theres sounds like? Im trying to make a decision on what to buy but I dont want to sound like a ricer

i like the dynomax weldeds myself....straight through smooth units.

fuggers are expensive though.

i've got the dynomax 3'' race glasspacks for the ranger 6 years ago, they've been on the b2 while the ranger's been refitted and they're still holding up well.sound is great too,but that's with a big block feeding them.

thats what i run...the 3 in. single though. the diesel sooted it up and changed the sound though:shok:

didnt see that comming:dunno:

ya,i guess that would happen.i'm pretty impressed with how long they've lasted, usually things labled 'race only' don't stick around that long.

With the cats it probably wouldn't be too bad.

I did have a glasspack and only a glasspack on my Ranger with the 2.8 for awhile, it did sound ricey.

excellent point:icon_thumby:

with the factory engines that is definitely a relative issue....

of course, with factory engines i leave a factory or near factory exaust with better flow and hopefully no sound detectable at all.. if i want good sound or power, i put something in with good sound and power:thefinger:

cant stand the v6 boat motor sound

I have a cherrybomb glasspack on my 2.9L. Its a good sound, not real 'tunery" i dont think at all. I wish it could be deeper, but it is a v6. Its throaty and a bit raspy for sure. I have mine set up after where i cut off the old muffler, no tailpipe. I like it, but when i redo my exhaust will be trying out the flowmaster 40s as i hear they are a nicer deep tone. But thats probably not going to be untill i drop in the new v8 drivetrain.

Glasspacks break down on the inside (the fiberglass wrapping) quicker than most mufflers...but that just makes it sound better. The outer case of the mufflers themselves are tough as hell. Cherrybombs are heavily powder coated, I assume thrush are too.
