Glass packs

I actually put a foot-long 3" inlet/core/outlet glasspack, with a diesel truck resonator right behind it, with a 3" tailpipe kicked out at the rear wheel on my 2.3 today.

Its really deep and smooth, but the resonance is ****ing killing me. I think I might cut the diesel truck resonator off and replace it with a thrush turbo and a 2 1/2" pipe.

I'll get a video up soon for reference.

Put the tail pipe behind the rear wheel

that will help the resonance

I'm thinking about slapping a glasspack on my Ranger. I hate it when the engine noise pwns the exhaust noise.

Koda if you do a glasspack. Do a cherrybomb 26 or 28" pack. It will sound the best.

Pepboys sells em for like 25 bucks

Alrighty. No pepboys around here but most places have em.

My dad was looking around for his car exhaust he had in the garage (who knows why, he drives a '79 F250 Highboy with a glasspack) and got pissed when he couldn't find it. I slapped it on the Ranger when I got a loud exhaust ticket for my old holey one. I should probably take it back off and hide it in there somewhere, then say I saw it behind one of the fridges or something.

Glasspacks sound like crap, he whoever has that ranger with the red glass pack... yeah that sounds horrible. Most V6 engines sound dumb piped anyways. The only real way to get a decent sound of it is to spend the dough and get a full catback. I went cheap and put a super-turbo muffler on my last ranger, it sounded dumb as hell.

You must not spend much time actually working under your truck if you think that's a Ranger's underbelly in that video. :icon_twisted:

I didn't look around. I saw red, I hit play to hear the sound. Needless to say, it sounds like garbage whatever it is.

Never heard a V-6 I have really liked. Sure as heck wouldn't sink a bunch of money in a full custom exhaust for one. It isn't the tone, deepness or anything that a muffler can fix, it is that right around 2k RPM they sound like a bumble bee (BRWAAAA). I had a turbo muffler on mine, it died so I got a glasspack because it fit better. It drove me nuts so when my brother put duals on his '97 F-150 I scalped his mint factory exhaust and stuck in on. Far and away that little 6 is better seen than heard.

Like I mentioned before, I love the 'packs on my F-150. My Ranger will get the treatment when I get my 302 in it.

Straight 6's sound better than v's, dunno really know why. One of my favorite sounding ones I have heard is the old Chevy truck in the John Wayne move "Hatari!"

Here is a 300 with a glasspack, judging by the tone I think it still has a cat.

As far as a glasspack V-6 goes, been there, got the T-shirt and have little need to go back.

Glass packs coming off mine Monday, Flowmaster from another truck I had is going in its place with turn downs in front of the axle.

i put a cherry bomb w a Y pipe into duels w no cats on my 4.0 n kinda has a v8 sound at idle lol i need bigger tips.. bigger tips= deepr tone..

i dunno if all glasspacks are like it, but i got the really big one. i think its longer than 2ft and the inside of it is tapered for the sound to baffle out in the sides, so i put mine on backwards so the sound dont go through them baffles it just passes right by. its on my 1979 ford bronco v8 351 modified it sounds incredible, much better than a v6 from a ranger would sound obviously but just thought id put that up there
