I'll admit I've been putting off changing a few things out for a while. I have a slow coolant leak that needs fixing and I'm past due for a cam synchronizer.

This isn't really 3.0L tech but for Christmas I asked for some tools or sears gift cards. I have a pretty good socket set and wrenches and all that and can get most things done. I've been putting off fixing these things on my truck for a little while because I wanted to get everything I need and knock it out over a weekend. The ranger is my only transportation so I'd like to give myself a full weekend in case of any issues.

Anyway the wife got me a torque wrench. I've been wanting one for a while now. However I didn't specify and she picked up a 3/8 drive that goes from 20-250 inch pounds.

I'd like to have that but for now since I can only have one I'm thinking I might be better off with the 1/2 drive one that is in ft/lbs. If you could only have one would you agree? I'm gonna pick up a harmonic balancer puller as well. Anything else you guys can think of that useful for working on our trucks? I have a $100 gift card to sears (I've always liked craftsman tools) so I'd like to use it.

Thanks,
Joey

I like to have both inch/lb and ft/lb torque wrenches. Do you have a jack and a GOOD set of stands?

Yeah I've already got those. I found the puller for like $20, and then I lost a 1/2 drive ratchet when we moved and I found one that came with some sockets for like $40.

I may pick those up and maybe pick up the other torque wrench or save it for an air compressor. I have a creeper and good work lights and all that stuff already. I really just want to try and slowly build up the "collection" so when I really have to tear into my truck I won't be scrambling to borrow stuff. I guess I have most of the basics I'm just trying to get more specialty stuff. I'll just go in there and see what they have but for now the air compressor sounds pretty good.

If you buy a compressor buy one with the biggest tank you can afford. Those little pancake ones suck.

I hear ya I'm not gonna rush out and buy one I want to wait until I can get a decent one.

My compressor has a 20 gallon tank. I think it works great. It's a horizontal tank. I recommend a vertical tank because of the smaller footprint. In other words, a compressor with a vertical tank will take up less floor space in your garage.
