No. Drive like a grandpa, and remove any un-necessary weight from your pickup, and you will get more mileage gain than any chip will ever give you...

Or get a frickin rice burner.

More horsepower and better fuel mileage are the opposites when it comes to engines. The only way you will get better fuel mileage and horsepower is to reduce mass. You must reduce quantity of inertia possessed by the objects or the proportion between force and acceleration referred to in Newton's Second Law of Motion.

You can't break that law man. You can build a powerful motor that drinks gas, or build a econobox that has worse acceleration than a Geo Metro.

More horsepower and better fuel mileage are the opposites when it comes to engines. The only way you will get better fuel mileage and horsepower is to reduce mass. You can't break that law man. You can build a powerful motor that drinks gas, or build a econobox that has worse acceleration than a Geo Metro.

Thats not really completely true if you want to think about it. If you look at a diesel for instance you get better fuel mileage because it reprograms the computer in the vehicle and makes it a more accurate shot of fuel which also makes more power and wastes less fuel. If you drive like a banshee either way your going to get bad fuel mileage but it is possible to crank more power and get better mileage if you drive like a person without road rage.

why do you think the overseas versions of the exact same engines we use get better power and milage ratings?

our engines are detuned to hell and gone, a proper tune can really wake them up, chips are real.

maybe not THAT chip, but chips in general ARE real.

Because so far just about every chip people have asked about on here IS phony. I'm all for someone buying a handheld tuner, going megasquirt, or reflashing their computer with a custom tune. Chips in general, even ones that work, are pretty stupid, too. You can't change the settings on most of 'em and what do you do if you move to a different elevation or decide to get an aftermarket cam, or even change out the exhaust manifolds to headers? Then you have to purchase a whole new chip with a different tune!

EDIT - I actually read that advertisement, they even admit it's a two wire resistor that screws up the IAT sensor's signal and tricks the motor into adding just a bit more fuel. You'll lose MPG with something like that, and you're motor will be making more power because it isn't running right!! The picture of the IC in the ad with their logo on it has nothing to do with what you are buying.
