Getting to know my 1999 ranger a little better

Yep cash is tight. Just came back in to get my latest special tool. I don't have any help lifting the bed off, decided to do it the hard way I guess. Brackets were a pain to get off without removing the drive shaft out of the way. Just have to remove the fuel supply line and can get the puppy out from under the truck. Bet I will drop the driveshaft putting it back together. Will know about the fuel pump directly.

Yep fuel pump is KPUTTT!!! I think I will replace the assembly. Definitely not going Ford OEM. Get a good discount from napa. Will check with a few other sources. Just another curve ball.

Got my new fuel assembly this afternoon. Decided to go with the AIRTEX brand. Actually got it cheaper thru auto zone. napa wholesale needs to do a little better. Another curve ball as expected. The fuel fill hose is showing it's age. Of course it's a dealer only item. Gues what/ They don't just sell the hose seperately anymore. Wholesale $320. I thought $87 was bad just for the stupid hose. Any thoughts on replacing this hose safely with something other the dealer ripoff would be most apreciated. Anyone know the vendor who supplies the hose for their ripoff assemblys? 126" wheelbase

Just an update. Installed new fuel pump assembly, seems to be working fine. I would eventually like to replace the rubber fuel fill hose and vent hose on the filler neck. Pulling the tank from underneath is not bad. Easier than pulling the bed by yourself . The only problem I encountered was getting the tank straps past the driveshaft. For temporary purposes I wrapped the fuel fill lines with rubber tape to slow down the degredation of the rubber any further. Looking forward to pulling the tank again when hose have been found. Still not willing to go the $320 from the dealer. Some one out there has a solution.:beer::beer::beer:MGD time

I am confused about what you are looking for and what you say it costs.........you can buy the metal filler neck online from $90-$120 rock auto has some.........you also can buy standard hose........I believe the hose is the same diameter on both ends, nothing custom..did you find the standard hose? is that what was $87 where did you find that?

check e-bay for the hose. I spent 400 bux on one. then found one on ebay a week later for 75.

The hose has a 90 degree bend just before the top of the fuel tank. I have found thru Goodyear a hose but only has 8" on either side of the 90 degree bend. There are other hoses available rated for fuel fill with Helix coil capable of a 90 degree bend. The hose I thought was $87 was actually the fill neck. I really do not want to get the hose from the dealer, it has probably been sitting on the shelf for 10 plus years. They will not sell the hose seperately. Just need to keep looking. Wrapped the old hose with rubber tape for now. .Will post a few pics when I get a moment
