so my ranger is getting sh*t for gas milage. last fill up i got 9.8mpg (152 miles on 15.5 gals...) and so far ive cleaned the maf, oil change, plugs and wires, and air filter. tires are goodyear duratracs 31x10.50x15. probably needs an alingment and idk what else to check. this is rediculous. does anyone have any idea?? and it doesnt matter if i drive like a normal person or if im beating the tar out of it.

i need help :bawling::bawling::bawling:

What motor/year? I have a 96 4.0 with same problem, throwing a code for EGR flow restricted or something like that... I also have a POS auto tranny with no second and all gears have at least some slip... have to rev 1st really high to shift into third... probably a major component.... If its a 96 or newer I'd OBDII scan it first, PCV and EGR check/test

I would pull a spark plug and see if you are running rich, if not I would inspect both the fuel lines from the tank to the intake, feel lines with your fingers and then smell fingers, lol, for gas smell.

If plug shows signs of running rich I would check the fuel regulator.
It has a diaphragm that is open and closed by the intake vacuum pressure, the lower the RPM(highest vacuum) the more fuel is sent back to the fuel tank.
If this diaphragm leaks then raw fuel is sucked into the intake.
Just remove the vacuum hose and see if it has or smells like gas.

I would also get($30-$40) or borrow a fuel pressure gauge, if your fuel return line is getting clogged up you will have higher pressure in the rail, this can cause a run rich condition.
Should be about 30-40psi with key on/engine off, 40-45psi at idle
