Getting the new Windshield in my 97

Yup, remember that post i put on here about the junkyard man wanting 180 dollars for a used windsheild? Well I went to another junkyard (state line junkyard) and he ordered me a NEW windsheild and NEW windsheild gasket for only 115 bucks, alot cheaper than 180 bucks for a used windsheild with no gasket right? lol i'm definately goign back to the cheaper junkyard, where he can order me NEW parts for alot cheaper than the other one. i'm putting the new windshield in tonite and hopefully getting the 97 inspected sometime this week

I bought my windshield new and had it installed for $120. But I think that's just because my dad is friends with the guy that owns the business.

those are glued in. unless you have the specialty tools to cut out your old glass you won't get far...

Yea I'm driving it to my dads friends house, and he has all the tools to take out the glass, and install the new glass, i cant wait

Yes. The key is to use the proper tools, clean the surfaces really well, and use a very good quality silcone.

Clean all the old stuff off. Cover all the bare metal with the special primer. Clean the glass surface very well. I have seen and found that hot silcon seals a little better and is easier to work with. Be sure to have a single bead all the way around. Try not to break or stop, then start again. An electric gun makes things alot easier.

don't EVER use silicon on your cars windows or seams!

the only thing to use is urethane window sealant(and the etching primer) that is made for the job and the little wedges to space the window correctly.

make sure you use touch up on the scratches in the window frame.most trucks that rot out there are from window replacements

yea the upper posts on the 92 i had were rusting an leaking at the top...and there was silicon glued on top of it lol i guess he thought silicon would stop rust
