Hey guys,

Im installing a CB Radio in my 1999 ford ranger and it says i can hook the power cord up to the battery, which i'd rather not do, Or hook it up to the ignition switch accessory terminal so that the radio is automatically turned off when they key is turned off. Does anyone know where the ignition switch accessory terminal is? Or any other way to run the CB without hooking it to my batter?

Thanks,

A CB is an emergency device as well as fun. you wanna make sure you have emergency communication in case you ever have an issue getting the truck working or lose your keys in the woods or something. I say you direct wire through the fuse box if you need to, but bypass the whole ignition thing for the CB. Ground wire can go to any thing bare bolt with frame contact.

I tapped it to the hot post of the lighter. The "accesory post" isn't a physical post like a post on a battery, like I think you are thinking. Wire it to the radio hot wire. Then go buy a toggle switch at AA and run another hot wire to it direct from the battery. Then if you do get yourself into a situation you can power it up with the flip of a switch.

just wire it to the battery, w/ a fuse.. and be done
