Hey guys long time member here, just haven't been on in a while since i had to sell my v8 swapped 92 ranger. Today I slipped into some luck and found a 1993 regular cab short bed 4x4. 3.0L 5 speed. With 72 thousand and some change on the odometer. I've been talking to the owner via messages and over the phone getting the details. He told me a lifter started tapping and he said it may need new lockers in the front. I asked if he meant hubs but he said when he turned the front rotors had the flywheel drive apart and the u joints looked good so he figured it needed new lockers. I figure if it needs new hubs no big deal. For the lifter I figure I could do that in a weekend. I've been inside of a 3oh before. My question for that is, should I go ahead and put in a new cam and lifter set? Do I need new push rods or reuse the stock ones if they look like they are in good shape? Or could I get away with just replacing the bad lifter? If I have to go new cam and lifters what measurements do I need to make to see if the cam bearings are within spec? I would like to get away without having to pull the whole motor and sending to the machine shop and waiting a few days to a week to get it back. I thought I'd ask to see what you guys thought. I'm gonna get it either way if the guy will trade it for my 92 camaro with a v6 5speed with 314and change on originam motor and transmission. Hopefully the links to the pictures work. Its been several years since I've posted.
