Well it took a few years to build but now is the last straw I think Im getting rid of my 92 well 86-92 ranger 4x4 4cyl 5speed. I finally got the tranny rebuilt right it took a week because those fm146s are a pain in the a$$. It finally got back on the road yesterday and the tire flew off. It ruined my rim my studs and crushed the bed. Bought a dodge ram charger today with the rare 360 so I think Im going to part out my first truck. I started building it at fifteen and now im 17 and I think its time is up. I really dont want to get rid of it but i think I have to.

Well it sounds like you are a little frustrated and that happens to all of us. I would gather that you learned a lot about cars and built up some good skills. You will carry these skills through the rest of your life. Most 17 years old don't have any knowledge of cars and would never stick with the project for 2 years. You might want to take a step back.....relax and figure out why the wheel came off.......maybe in your frustration you forgot to check everything.......I don't have opinion on what you should do only you know that.... but maybe in a week or so you will feel like getting back in there and fixing the wheel...........I do know that you will probably get about 8 mpg in that old ram charger....either way it sounds like you did pretty good job.........best of luck in whatever you decision you make....

^^^ Well said.

Thanks. Well yesterday I threw two different rims on there just to get it moving again. Also bent all the studs back by heating them up. Now that I thought about it a while I think I might just keep it and start building me a 86 F350 4x4 crew cab with a 7.3. I have like 8 trucks out in a feild that I have bought through the years. They all run but Im going to pull a few apart to build a nice one. For now the ranger will stay on the road i just need to find some bushwackers to cover up the three messed up fenders. It still needs a lot of work but Ill just stick with it a little longer because like you said most my age couldnt dream of doing what I did and I think I will take prride in my work and keep it together. 2.3 turbo here you come! Dually later
