get tranny past the Y-pipe?

I'll have to make sure I hammer the seam while I have it out. I'm probably going to tackle it this weekend. No way will I be able to unbolt the cats from the y-pipe, but I'll feel a lot better about cutting there than I would the y-pipe.

I don't know if I already said this but I got the cats to the muffler (only 2 screws) done first. Throw a smaller standard on those springs bolts and pull on them with a cheater bar. A little bit of JB might help and they will turn. These are the easiest and allow you to leverage down on the y-pipes. This is how I ultimately got the tranny out. Once it was out I was able to remove the y-pipe to cat bolts fairly easily. Never got the manifold/y-pipe bolts out

haha, I'm still not holding out much hope, back on page 2 I posted a pic of the cat-to-ypipe bolts http://therangerstation.com/forums/showpost.php?p=326111&postcount=27

they almost look like someone welded a bead around the bottom of the nut, welding it to the flange, and around the top of the nut, welding it to the stud, which btw has not even a hint of anything reconizable as thread. I've never seen anything like it. The best I'll hope for is getting them broken off after I get the transmission out of the way and replace them with something stainless.

You'd be surprised... I knocked off as much rust as the hammer would and jb'ed 2or3 times. When I started torquing, it didn't come easily but after it broke and I got a full revolution or so, I hand turned it off the deteriorated/rusted threadless end with no problem
