I'm not really new.. just been gone for a long time.
I got my first '97 Ranger in '96 and kept it until '01 when I traded it for an F-250 CrewCab 4x4 PowerStroke.
In '99 I pick up an '84 Bronco II basket case that I fixed up for off-roading and was active with that until about '03. After that, my little Bronco II has pretty much sat around and hasn't really been used much.
As it is today.. revived, but not cleaned and in need of a lot of work.
We'll for some reason, my interest in it has been renewed and I'm going to fix it back up to put it safely on the road again this spring. I put a new battery in it this morning and with a squirt of ether, it fired right up after having sat for months. Up next is a good scrubbing and change all the fluids, hoses, belts and filters. After that, I plan on going through the front suspension and brakes (ball joints, bearings, brakes, brake hoses) and the rear brakes. After that, some cosmetic work.
What it's got going for it is good running motor and transmission, pretty straight body with just a few tiny spots of surface rust (just some scratches that have rusted, but no rot), a 3" body lift, 2 inch suspension lift, trimmed fenders, 33x12.50 tires on 15x12 wheels and James Duff Front and Rear tube pre-runner bumpers.
Unfortunately, the off-road scene isn't as active as it once was... and I'm not as interested in bouncing around off road as much any more. I'll probably lean my do-over of this rig to be more of a dirt road/pavement pounder.
