My coworker has a 89 F150 with manual locking hubs.. He is wondering if its safe to drive around with the hubs locked but not in 4wheel drive.. With the snow coming and going he hates the hassle of having to stop to lock the hubs.. Is there going to be any issues if he just leaves them locked?

As long as everything is in working order, then other then maybe 1-2 mpg decrease AT MOST in mileage. No, he won't have any other issues driving around with the hubs locked. I do it in my ttb D44 all the time.

It's ok to do it. Then you can also shift on the fly.

Thanks guys.. Thats kinda what I figured but I thought it was better to ask then tell him to do it and something go wrong.. lol

I do it when the weather gets bad as long as I'm doing local driving. If I have to get out on the highway for awhile and it's clear, I unlock 'em. No sense being rough on it.
