So i rebuilt my 2.9 and got everything in and together yesterday but i tried to crank it and all i get is a click and sometimes an electrical buzz and am looking for some advice as to where to start my diagnosis as well as can i use standard hardware store bolts for my exhaust flange i got a set off of amazon and they wont work so im thinking of just getting some regular bolts with some flat washers and lock washers

Also it is a 1990 ford ranger with the 2.9 4x4 and a manual transmission

Check your ground cable and connections from the battery. Assuming the engine turns over by hand.

As for the bolts? Yes standard hardware bolts will be fine
