Gen I/II to Gen 5 front end conversion installed on a Gen 3...

ok im sorry if i offended anyone(mainly the OP).

but some people is used to get things done right even for a beater and not halfassed like that.

but if that works for you , thats what matters. u dont need our approval or opinion if ur happy with how its done.

some others were getting a little ridiculous, though.it was bandwagon time.

Indeed it was. I had to combo-break.

if you cant take a little critisism then dont post pictures on a forum asking what people think

Had you actually read my original post (or had any of the idiots that responded actually read my post) you would have seen that never did I ask for ANYONE'S opinion.... I simply posted my work and said "here, this is what I did...it didn't really work". But, no one stopped to read before opening their 'sucks' and letting shit come out.....:thefinger:

The #1 reason for my post was to show the guy I bought the kit from that I installed it. I sent him a PM and posted the pics on the forum.

Thanks, I guess. The rest of your post is annoying, but at least you are honest and admit that other people's opinions really don't matter... in the end it's my truck, and if I am happy that is all that matters. But at this point it is more than that. Now I am angered to the point of proving retards wrong....

Again, if you are trying to make a point, don't just make shit up.

Everyone on this "national forum" has an opinion, and I think I have established that in this instance yours is invalid, as you ignore the facts of the matter and make shit up.

Again, I never asked for anyone's opinion. Again, the intent of the post was to show that: it didn't work, it was good enough for me, and the pictures were to show the guy I bought it from what happened.

I can't say anything to idiots who simply post facepalm pictures or smiley faces icons. They obviously do not posses the ability to engage in meaningful discussions. So, instead, I am responding to those who have actually responded with something in writing.

I'm a member of many automotive forums, including those that are actually positive, and aimed at helping new members learn and be productive. TRS is a forum full of great information and resources. Unfortunately it is also full of high schoolers who insist on flaming other members.

I will go back and forth with you all day, especially if you insist on saying things like "there isnt any reason to get all butthurt" and "pull the corn cob out of you ass". I'm not a psychologist, but I am pretty sure you have an anal fixation. Good luck with that.:dunno:

All right everyone...simmer down and curb the attitudes.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions...but keep its civil.

haaa some people are spending way too much time lurking on the pirate4x4forums and tryin to get all hard on TRS.

I love being away from the computer for a few days

I did not start this project out because I wanted to convert my front end to the newer bodystyle- I just wanted a fiberglass front. I don't want steel you moron, that was the whole point. I stumbled across this set for sale which included everything needed (albeit for an earlier gen truck).

You never said you just wanted a fiberglass front rather than steel, so how am I a moron? :thefinger:
And this is a budget truck? I'm sure you understand budget and fiberglass don't go together....
What's the big deal with fiberglass? You can't want it for looks, obviously, and it can't be much lighter, not $600 worth of lighter.

I've been looking at prices for over a year and when you add up all of the miscellaneous pieces (headlights, all new bulbs, wiring harness, grille insert, etc) this kit was the cheapest I'd seen.

You said you didn't do it to convert to a newer body style, and if you kept the Gen 3 body style you wouldn't need new headlights, wiring harness, grille insert, ect. you would only need fenders and a hood.

Your next post confirms you are an idiot and did not read my previous reply, as you then admit that "It might be worth a try" and suggest a way to do it! So, which is it: facepalm dumb, or worth a try?

well I guess I felt bad that we were all being assholes so I came up with an idea to help you. Yes it looks facepalm dumb as is, but if you actually put some effort into that botched abortion of a swap, you could make the front pieces align, which is the first thing you notice, then you could work on making flow into the doors if you so choose. The amount of fiberglass and bondo work that need to be done here would negate any weight reduction by using fiberglass

pull the corn cob out of you ass and prove them wrong
Agreed.

Looks sikkkkkk!

Who the Hell are you, with one post count?

To the OP, have you had the time to straighten the panels out yet w/ updated pics?

TRS is a great site with nice people. Somehow this just got out of hand. Perhaps some saw the pictures and thought you were boasting/gloating about your success.

Either way, good luck with your truck, and safe travels.

LOL, I was wondering that myself. Not only does he only have one post, but apparently he has been lurking since 2008! But as the only member who posted a purely positive comment (I think?) I can't complain....

To the question at hand: I have not yet completed this project. Between working full time, going to school full time, and the holidays I have not been able to work on this. I did round up some additional supplies and tools that will make the job easier when I find the time. I learned my lesson with posting so-called "in-progress" pics. I will not post any pics until it is complete and looks the way I want it to.

...And just to keep the idiots going:

You never said you just wanted a fiberglass front rather than steel, so how am I a moron?

Please refer to my third post (made before your stupid comment about steel): "I just happened to find the kit for sale on the forum and wanted a fiberglass front....". You are still a moron.

As for the new headlights, etc: While switching to a fiberglass front (including a new fiberglass header panel) does not require new lights, why put all new parts on the front and leave the dingy yellow headlights? This kit included everything and was comparatively cheaper than kits available elsewhere.

This is not a "budget" truck. This is a beater truck, meaning: I don't care if it is scratched up or has panels that don't align. If it runs, drives, gets me from point A to point B, and is somewhat fun to drive- I am happy. Over the years I have dumped a ton of money into this truck to keep it on the road. I'd never get back what I have invested, so I might as well keep it and do whatever I want with it...
