I plan on having a D35 and a 8.8 with a mild 302 in my truck soon, I want to run 35's or 36's. My question is should i go with 4.88 or 5.13 on my gearing with a 302? will i have a problem with torque on the 5.13's?

With a 302? You definately don't want 4.56's or lower if you want to keep it streetable. I say 4.10's with 35's.

So i shouldn't have a problem with to high of gearing with the 302? It wont be a dog with 4.10's? should i go with 4.56's?

On the tire and gear chart it says 4.10's are good for highway, 4.56's and 4.88's are best overall performance.

Anyone here with a 302 or 351 what gears do you run and how do thy do for your you? :dntknw:

I'm going with 4.56's when I get 35's.

PM me your email and I can send you a number crunching spreadsheet for gears/tires/transmissions

To use the spreadsheet you have to know what ratio the fastest gear is in your transmission. Direct is obviously a trans ratio of 1. overdrive is something like 1.333333 or 1.2 or whatever.

First gear should be a number somewhere in between 0.3 and 0.5

it all depends on what kind of trans u plan on running, i have a sm435, which means with my 3.50 gears in my 9" and d44 ill be fine for all around wheelin runnin 40's, but if i were to use a c6 in my truck, i would want 4.56's to get about the same performance

4.88 - 5.13 if you have an overdrive trans
4.10 - 4.56 if no OD.

What gears did you end up going with, and are you happy with them?

Overdrive should be around 0.7 or 0.8. First gear is more like 2.5 or 3.
