Gearing for 33's with 4.0

thats nuts, just get the tools and do them yourself, its simple enough, and if it rbeaks u have noone to blame but yourself, i bought my tools when i had my first ranger, cost me about 250 for the tools, and ive made money doin rears for other people aswell, payed for themselves on the first rears i did

Are you talking about swapping the axle or swapping the gears? If you are talking about swapping the axle, go for it. If you are talking about swapping the gears, I would honestly hold out for a set of 4.56's. Having gears changed will run you anywhere from $1,000 to $1,500. Do it once and do it right...

hick

No im just wondering bout the gear swap and if i need the carrier or not plus whether or not ths will even work. And hell no i would never pay that much for a gear change my uncle is the shop foreman at the ford dealership where i live and if i get all the stuff the only thing its gonna cost me is a 12 pack lol!!

ok so I have been reading this as the thread continues on, and was wondering the same thing the O.P. asked. I want to go to 33's on my truck (which is the 4.0 with 4.10's) for the most part all I do is DD (mostly highway) so from what you guys are sayin I should probably wait till I save the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to do a 4.56 gear swap then?? guess the truck is gonna stay stock for at least another year or so :(

Don't be afraid of the 33's thats what i am running and i do not notice much difference i can still break them loose when it is wet and if i want i can light them up when it is dry we have the exact same truck. If you are looking for cheap gears and locker i suggest checking out this site http://ford4x4accessories.com/index.php
